Guest Bathroom Revamp

I love a project! There is nothing like visualizing the finished product in my head before I start, and hoping that it looks like that when I’m done lol

I was definitely beyond excited to tackle the bathroom revamp.

I started off by picking up some paint colors from Sherwin Williams. I picked up three colors; Pure White, Alpaca, and Charcoal Chalked Matte Paint.

I wanted to paint three of the walls a beautiful grey, and to leave one of the walls in pure white, to do a faux shiplap wall until we put up the real deal. Our guest bath was just white, and I wanted to put our touch and pizzazz on it.

BEFORE

DURING

First, you need to tape off the areas in the room that you don’t want painted. Taping off the crown molding, and the base boards was key. And the last step was putting a piece of tape on each side of the fourth wall to prevent the Alpaca grey from getting onto the faux shiplap wall. I used painters tape, but highly suggest using frog tape to get a nice clean line every time.

The three walls I was painting gray were already white, and received 2 coats of Alpaca paint after each dry (they required no primer). Once the grey walls were dry, taping off the crown molding, and base board for the final wall was the next step. The final wall received two coats of Pure White. Before I could tackle the last step of the paint job however, the white wall had to be completely dry.

3 hours later…

I measured the distance I wanted for the shiplap (6 inches), and drew out each line with pencil first. The taping job for the final step took about 3 hours, but it was worth the investment of time to get the look that I was looking for. Once the taping was complete, it was very easy to apply the Charcoal Chalk paint between each taped line. I applied about 2-3 coats here.

2 hours later…

The blue tape came off, and only magic was left behind. Some of the lines weren’t crisp, but I thought it gave it a nice look of shiplap personally. If you want a more solid, and crisp line, use frog tape as I suggested above. To personalize the space, I added new light bulbs, and fixtures, some beautiful floating shelves, we replaced the door hinges, door stoppers, and door handles. I love how warm, cozy, and inviting the space is now with the added character.
