They say the journey is just as important as getting to the final destination. Well the baby room journey was a total blast, and the almost finished product is just as exciting. There is one more final touch that we are excited to add to the room, however, we are going to add that final touch when Baby Mascaro is here. If you stick around in the upcoming months, I will be updating this post, and definitely sharing.

I wanted the room decor to be neutral, with added splashes of color throughout. I also didn’t realize how much I would enjoy putting the room together throughout my pregnancy with the hubby. I am really big on starting a project, and not allowing it to drag out for months and months, however this was different. I think decorating this room over the past 9 months became a journey that wasn’t just ours but also Baby M’s. That makes this so much more bittersweet; seeing it finished.
The hubby put together a whole other crib before we settled on this one btw. After he finished putting it together (the first crib), I was okay with letting it be, but he seemed unsatisfied with the look of the room I described and was going for. He said it wasn’t the “vision” that I described lol.
He took a few hours of searching and looking, and found this current crib that he said was a much better fit. And yes, I totally love it! You can change out the legs of the crib into several different colors. We decided to stick with the white for now.

The bunny images were a special find a few years before we even talked about kids. I remember finding them, and loving them immediately. I knew one day that they would hang in the baby room, when we decided to start a family.
Of course, the moment that I knew we were pregnant, I ordered them, and had them printed. It didn’t matter whether we were having a boy or a girl, I knew the bunnies would be that special touch to the baby room that would light up a smile on anyone’s face. I can’t even begin to count the amount of times that I hear, “bunny butt” when someone comes into the room, it makes me giggle, and immediately turns any frown upside down. Some things are just meant to bring pure joy.
I was about 6 months along when we decided to make the trip out to IKEA. We had our eye out on one specific dresser, and when we saw it in person, we both decided that it was just a bit too large, and not what we wanted for the space. We then saw the dresser that we currently have today, and immediately decided that it was a much better fit. I really like how the dresser has almost bumper like sides to it, to keeps everything in place, and it was a much better size (not too long and bulky). I also liked that the edges were a smidge more baby friendly.
We had a lot of fun putting it together, honestly. We have heard horror stories when it came down to putting together IKEA furniture, and it was actually very well detailed, and easy to do. The instructions were organized, everything was properly labeled into I believe three separate sections. And putting it together made it extra special. It was something we did together for our son, we chatted about his future, and how excited we were for the continued journey, we shared our hopes and dreams for him, and in the end we had a beautifully built dresser. I think we bonded over something so small, and made some big unforgettable memories.
I am 9 months pregnant this Tuesday, and it’s crazy to think that in 4-5 weeks, we are going to be holding and raising our sweet baby boy. I am excited for this new chapter in our lives, and excited that we were able to create such a wonderful space (that he may not use right away) but a space, that was built and put together with the love of both of his parents.
