(WINE in a Teacup) 15 Things To Do When You're Under Quarantine! #COVID-19

Week 2 Day 1

Are you running out of ideas of things to do under quarantine? Well, after some deep thinking, soul searching (lol), I came up with 15 things you can do while on lock down. I hope this helps you keep the faith, and encourages you to know that you are not alone in this. We are all in this together!

  1. Fresh Air

Staying inside with the people we love and care for is fantastic, and we are fortunate to be all together, however, staying inside all together can also be unhealthy mentally and physically. So go for a walk, run, hike, play with the dog in the backyard, shoot some hoops, kick a soccer ball around, just sit outside . Any of these will help with the vitamin D deficiency you didn’t know you had, and help restore your immune system, cell growth, reduce inflammation and help bone growth. Just be sure to wear your sunscreen folks!

2. Bake or Cook

Although this may be a chore to some of you, and not exactly a “fun” activity on top of you “To-do” list, this may be a time to tackle some simple, know how recipes (eggs, omelets, pasta, rice, etc.) You never know when they may come in handy, or impress a spouse or your pet. (For some recipe ideas, turn to the blog or other blogs for some great ideas!)

3. Project

You know that project you’ve been meaning to do/ tackle, now is the time. Grab a paint brush, bucket of paint, and add some new color to the walls, you’d be surprised just how much it can change an entire space/ room. Go ahead, paint a picture, sketch, color, re-design your living room, bedroom, or kitchen, hang some curtains. Have fun with it!

4. Clean out the Closet/ Re-organize

Now that it’s officially spring, it is also time to clean out the closet. Pull out your spring/ summer staple pieces, and reorganize the shelves. If there are any articles of clothing you have outgrown, physical/mentally, put them into your donation pile. You can bring these items to your local “Plato’s Closet” to make some cash, local H&M for a 15% off coupon your next purchase, or drop them off at the Salvation Army (Of course, when it is safe to go out into the world again.) At the end of the day, you have a clean closet, and you’re doing your part in keeping our planet GREEN.

5. Text/ Call a Friend/ Family

Social isolation can be very difficult for many, it may be even difficult for you. It can lead into a slow and slippery slope of depression. People are not meant to be alone, so it is not that shocking when that happens. So, be a friend, and Face Time, call, text, email, a friend/ family. You may even notice that it lifts your spirits also.

6. Exercise

It is so easy to fall onto the couch and just sit there for hours at a time, binge watching your new favorite show. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all, as long as you are doing something throughout the day to stay active for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Things to do…

  1. Yoga
  2. Swim
  3. Push up challenge (don’t forget to tag a friend)
  4. Walk/ Run (bring the pup while you’re at it)
  5. Play basketball
  6. In home workout (Beachbody offers a week free trial)
  7. Bicycling (Cindy is my go to girl for all spin questions)
  8. Soccer
  9. Golf
  10. Tennis
  11. Hike
  12. Dance (Tik-Tok )
  13. Household Chores (don’t laugh, it’s a thing)
  14. Rollerblade
  15. Jump rope
  16. Rock Climbing
  17. Aerobics
  18. Horseback Riding
  19. Trampoline
  20. Volleyball

etc.

(Try to do activities outside. Fresh air during this time is extremely beneficial.)

7. Take a Nap

8. Read/ Listen to a Book

This may not be your favorite pastime, however reading improves brain function and not just your linguistic skills. It can reduce stress, improves your memory, writing skills, improves vocabulary, improves focus, and it can be rather entertaining. When I say “listen” I should refer you to my girl Meg. She should be running the Audible commercials. Audible is an amazing way to listen to a book if you’d rather listen, and/ or you’re driving. You can access Audible via amazon.com.

9. Goal/ Wish List

Stop for a minute, and create a goal or wish list. We tend to get into a rut when we are on the go. This is the perfect time to reflect and make a list of things we wish or want to accomplish, and ways that we are going to get there.

10. Praise/ Worship + Pray

As a Christian, a huge part of my daily walk in Christ is to find time to praise and worship our mighty God. I like to do this during my walks, it actually makes the walk or run that much more enjoyable. My favorite Pandora station currently is “Bethel Music & Jenn Johnson Radio”.

11. Do a puzzle/ Play a board game

There are a ton of “Brain Games” you can play on your phone or iPad. There are also a ton of actual puzzles, and games you can play with one, or many. Don’t over think this one, just have FUN!!!

12. Watch your favorite show/ movie

I have some of my favorite shows for sure; Sex and the City, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Jack Ryan, Firefly, Bosch, Friends, Madmen, The Office, The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, New Girl, Big Bang, Ugly Betty, Schitt’s Creek, Entourage, Outlander, Poldark, White Collar, Suits, Stranger Things, etc. I am currently re-watching “Desperate Housewives”, and also re-watching “Scrubs” with the hubby. I could go on and on, but if I did this blog post would never end lol I haven’t even tackled the movies. Lets leave that for another day, or post.

13. Learn a New Language

This may be something that you don’t see yourself doing, or may even deem it impossible, but luckily there are a lot of different technologies out there that can help you along this journey.

  1. Rosetta Stone
  2. Use an App
  • Duolingo
  • Babbel
  • Mango

14. Start journaling/ blogging

This may be as good time as any. You can journal and jot down all your thoughts and experiences during this crazy time, or why not try to blog about it. Whichever way you decide to express this journey, I guarantee that you will look back at your entries, and it may seem like you’re reading a Sci- fi book.

15. Live in the Moment

Breathe. Take it all in. Love unconditionally. Tell those you love, how much you love them. Be grateful. Smile. Appreciate the little things. Live in the Moment.

Be sure to share all of your adventures in the comments below. ❤

Happy Sunday!!!
